1.) Looks and Feels Natural

Our dentist makes sure that the color of your new veneers matches the rest of your teeth. That way, no one will be able to tell that you’re wearing porcelain veneers. Veneers are wafer-thin porcelain shells we bond to the fronts of your teeth. To make room for these teeth covers, we will need to remove a thin layer of enamel. Otherwise, the dental veneers will make your teeth seem large and bulky.

Porcelain veneers look and function like natural tooth enamel. The veneers procedure takes two visits to our office. During your first appointment, we will make space for the veneers by removing enamel and taking dental impressions to send to the lab.

When you return to our office several weeks later, your veneers will be ready. During the second part of the veneers process, our dentist might make slight adjustments to the fit and color so the shells look natural.

2. Covers Minor Imperfections

Need chipped tooth repair? Ask your dentist if you’re a candidate for dental veneers. We use veneers to cover slight damage that is cosmetic, rather than structural. For example, you might need a dental crown to fix a cracked tooth if its structural integrity has been compromised.

Veneers can repair minor imperfections, such as:

  • Chipped tooth

  • Misshapen teeth

  • Slight gaps between front teeth

  • Stained or discolored teeth

3. Durable and Stain Resistant

Veneers are durable enough to last several years, as long as they are given proper care. This means continuing to brush your teeth twice a day and flossing once daily. Dental veneers are also able to resist stains better than natural tooth enamel. However, drinking too much coffee or other staining drinks can discolor your veneers over time. There’s no reason why your veneers can’t last for years as long as you take care of them.

4. Easy to Maintain

Take care of your porcelain veneers the way you would natural teeth. Be sure to brush twice a day and floss daily to reduce plaque and tartar buildup. Also, make sure you schedule your routine teeth cleaning and dental exam every 6 months.

5. Minimally Invasive

Compared to dental crowns, we don’t have to remove as much enamel to make space for veneers. This means you get to keep more of your natural tooth enamel, which can never be replaced once it’s lost.

Since a dental crown covers the entire visible portion of your tooth above the gum line, we have to remove more enamel to make room. Fortunately, during the veneers procedure, we only remove a thin layer of enamel from the fronts of your teeth. You may not even need anesthesia before we do this because the procedure is minimally invasive.
